I am a third generation dairy farmer at Llannant Farm in Penyrheol. My family has been living and working at Llannant since 1941, and we currently have some 200 head of cattle. We also used to run a local veg round up until the mid 1990s, which my grandfather started on his horse and cart. Before returning to work full time, I studied agriculture for four years and took time out to work on a dairy farm in New Zealand. My wife’s family are also very involved in farming on Gower, and they run Shepherd’s Fruit and Veg on the High Street in Gorseinon. I’m a keen sportsman and have played rugby locally for Loughor RFC for the past 20 years; I also build PCs and websites in what little spare time I get.

As well as being elected as a County Counciullor in 2017 for the Penyrheol ward I am an elected member of Gorseinon Town Council and have been for a little over four years. This year I had the privilege of being elected the town council’s youngest ever Mayor.

I feel that I can bring a much needed agricultural viewpoint not only to our area but also to the authority as a whole, because it is something that I feel is lacking within the council, not only for farmers, but for the community, as I believe that self-sustainability is a necessity, especially with the austerity we are currently facing. In recent years I have taken part in leafleting for Labour, and helped on Rebecca Evans’ Welsh Assembly election campaign.
