David Phillips

Councillor

Electoral Ward: Castle

Cllr.David.Phillips@swansea.gov.uk

01792 636 923

I have been a party member for over 35 years, lived in Castle ward for 26 years and a Swansea Councillor for over 23 years, holding various political responsibilities including Culture, Finance and as Leader of Swansea Labour for over 10 years, latterly as Council Leader from 2012 to 2014. I am very proud to have led the team that returned Labour to power, with I believe, the largest majority it has ever enjoyed. I am a committed anti-fascist.

I sincerely believe that tackling the city’s profound levels of inequality in health, wealth and opportunity to be the most important moral issue that confronts us. However, it is also important to represent the local everyday issues, the ‘little things’ that improve the quality of daily life and ensure that community need also influences our strategic priorities.

Previously I led a national charity and worked in the public and private sectors.
