Electoral Ward: West Cross

Cllr.Mark.Child@swansea.gov.uk

I have represented West Cross, where I live, since 1999. I am currently Cabinet Member for Wellbeing and Healthy City, and I am passionate about improving the overall wellbeing of people in Swansea, through narrowing the gap in life expectance and health in our city, preventing the need for intervention in people’s lives; people living a good life.

I am also aware of the pressing need for social housing across Swansea. Until 2014 I worked as an IT Database Administrator in the private sector. He is married with 3 children.

I am also a member of the Electoral Reform Society to bring about a fairer voting system, and a member of UNISON, having previously been a branch secretary.

Outside of the council I am a member of Mumbles Yacht Club and Mumbles Rugby Club, am a keen Ospreys supporter. I am also a member of CAMRA, and enjoy walking, cycling and swimming.
