Steve Hopkins

Prospective Candidate

Electoral Ward: Fairwood

I am Swansea born and bred and went to Dynevor Grammar School and have worked for the Civil Service for 31 years.

I am thrilled to have beeen selected as the Labour candidate for Fairwood ward in the upcoming election.

I want to see my city prosper, a clean safe environment for my grandchildren to grow up in and I want good quality education for them as they get older. For their future I want secure jobs that will give them satisfaction as well as a decent living.

Within Fairwood ward I recognise the delicate balance between the urban areas and the lovely rural environment and want to protect that balance. If I am elected by you this is what I will work to achieve for all our futures.

I am passionate about helping people and I am Branch Secretary of the Public and Commercial Services Union, Revenue and Customs West Wales Branch.

My major concerns at the moment are the serious changes faced by members as Civil Service departments rationalise and centralise. Many members need assistance as they face losing their job or travelling long distances to continue working.
