Bonymaen ward is a collection of communities that includes  Pentredwr, Winch Wen, Bonymaen, Pentrechwyth , the new developments of Copper Quarter & Upper Bank & Morfa Retail Park. Neighbouring wards are St Thomas, Landore & Llansamlet.

With a population of almost 7000, it is the 13th largest ward population in Swansea.

Bonymaen ward has a community centre, leisure centre, library, one senior school , Cefn Hengoed School, plus Cwm Glas, Pentrechwyth, St Illtyd’s RC & Ysgol y Cwm primary schools.

Bonymaen ward is also home to Bonymaen Boxing Club, Bonymaen RFC, Brynawel FC and Bonymaen Colts FC.
