Penllergaer
The ward has a population of 3,000 – the eighth smallest in Swansea. It is situated approximately nine kms north-west of Swansea city centre, adjacent to the M4 motorway.
Its neighbouring wards include Llangyfelach, Penderry, Cockett, Kingsbridge, Gorseinon and Penyrheol
Penllergaer is now a well-established settlement, with a number of distinct sub-areas. A post-war council housing estate was developed on the northern side of Gorseinon Road, part of which was subject to a regeneration scheme.
The area became increasingly popular in the 1980s, being seen as offering an attractive and less expensive alternative to the West Swansea market.
Major recent residential developments include the Parc Penllergaer site, which has a direct access off Swansea Road, and a development on land east of Pontarddulais Road.
The area offers a diverse property portfolio with a proportionately large number of modern homes, where proximity to the M4 is important for commuters.
