Morriston Councillors have committed money from their Community Budgets to help tackle indiscriminate parking at the junction of Cwmrhydyceirw Road and Great Western Terrace. Residents attended a public meeting arranged by their local Councillors to discuss the daily parking issues they were facing.
Parking restrictions will be implemented to prevent motorists from parking inconsiderately and blocking access to their properties.
Councillor Ceri Evans said: “We are committed to supporting and working closely with residents to find a positive solution to tackle the haphazard parking that occurs all hours of the day. We listened to their concerns and have consulted closely with them to come up with a scheme which should hopefully alleviate the parking problems.”
Councillor Andrea Lewis stated: “Residents have been extremely patient considering the access difficulties they have to endure on a daily basis. We have committed a portion of our Community Budget to introduce a Keep Clear box to prevent motorists from blocking the junction and railings will be placed just behind the bollards on the bridge to prevent scrambler bikes from racing through which is extremely dangerous, not just for local residents but also any pedestrians or children using this as a safe route to school.”
