A key section of Swansea Canal is to be reopened after Swansea Council donated part of a former transport depot in Clydach to Swansea Canal Society.
The depot had been constructed over the canal and lock number seven. This section of canal will now be excavated and put back to water, joining up two sections of the Swansea Canal.
Clydach councillor Paulette Smith said she was delighted with the news.
“The canal is a vital part of the area’s heritage and Swansea Council recognises the huge value of the work being done by Swansea Canal Society to maintain and restore the canal. I very much look forward to the day when this stretch of the canal can be reinstated.”
