Generous Swansea councillors from Llansamlet have organised a special trip to the seaside for pensioners and their families.
The four Labour councillors – Ryland Doyle, Penny Matthews, Alyson Pugh, Mo Sykes – took a coach load of 60 to Weston-Super-Mare on a day trip.
“People were disappointed that our regular event for the older people in the community hadn’t taken place due to all the children’s events, so we came up with the idea of a coach trip to Weston,” said Cllr Pugh.
“It was a great success and everyone enjoyed despite not having the best day weather-wise.”
In all the Llansamlet councillors have put on community events in the parks around their wards for some 1,500 people over the summer holidays.
“The families in our ward have been very grateful that we have been able to have these events during the summer, and it has been great that organisations such as the police and the Fire Service give up their time for free.”
