West Cross Labour councillors donate defibrillator to local community centre

West Cross Labour Party councillors Mark Child and Des Thomas have donated a defibrillator to West Cross Community Centre. It will be fixed outside the centre so that it is available to people using the centre and to people in the surrounding area.

West Cross Community Centre Chairperson Pamela Erasmus said:

“We are delighted with this donation. As part of our service to the community we need to offer an emergency defibrillator.”

West Cross Community Centre Vice Chairperson Roger Knight added:

“The footfall to the centre is 15,000, mostly retired people, so it’s reassuring to have a defibrillator available here.”

Cllrs Child and Thomas made the donation from their community budget.

“We’re very pleased to be able to provide a defibrillator for the centre and the wider community,” said Cllr Thomas.

“West Cross Community Centre provides a vital service to the local community, and is widely used, so it’s important to have a defibrillator available there,” said Cllr Child.
