Bishopston

My Pledges -

  • Greener, Cleaner Bishopston: I will take climate action locally by providing a safe cycle path across the common.

  • Social events for all: I will ensure there are opportunities for all age groups to meet friends and neighbours and take part in great social activities locally.

  • Upgraded playgrounds: I will invest in Bishopston play areas as part of Swansea Labour’s £5 million commitment. A Zip line is a must!

  • Sport and recreation facilities for young people: I am fully committed to Bishopston Skatepark and other facilities for younger people such as basketball and netball courts.

  • Introduce a dedicated local operative: to help make sure our streets, parks and play areas are kept tidy and more welcoming.

“I’m really pleased to see the progression of the £14 million investment in Bishopston Comprehensive School. This is a demonstration of Swansea Labour’s commitment to young people. I would build on this by fully supporting Bishopston Skate Park, the Cycle path across the common and upgrading current playgrounds.”

Clare-Anna has a proven record of getting things done. Following the invasion of Ukraine, led by her compassion and desire to make a difference, Clare-Anna galvanied the support of people right across Swansea to collect more than £200k of medical aid for the front line. I know she will put the same drive and care into her work as a councillor.

A bit about me …

Hi. My name is Clare-Anna Mitchell. I was born and bred in Swansea and was brought up a Labour supporter so I have a deep understanding of the people, culture and all that Swansea stands for!

I trained as an actress. I have a BA (hons) degree in Acting from Birmingham School of Speech and Drama and a PG (dip) in Acting from Bristol Old Vic Theatre a school. I am more than confident public speaking and communicating with people from all walks of life. I build up rapport very easily and am repeatedly told I know just how to ‘read a room’

Currently, I work for The Wave And Greatest Hits Radio (Bauer Media) as a Live Link presenter and Event Manager. These skills, I’m sure you will agree, will prove vital in the role of councillor. Through my work I have met many many local businesses and charities across Swansea and have built up personal relationships with them.

One of my roles at The Wave is Project Manager for The Cash for Kids Mission Christmas Appeal. In 2021 I singlehandedly processed £47,000 worth of gifts for the Children across South West Wales who otherwise would have received nothing on Christmas Day. My main reason for standing for Councillor is that I have a passion for standing up for what is right, for championing great ideas and wanting the very best for local residents.

I truly believe that residents of the Gower are wonderful people. 4 weeks ago, I set upon a mission to help the people of Ukraine by sending Medical aid to the front line. Through social media, local radio and the support of fellow Labour councillors, I have to date received in excess of £200,000 in donations to my house!

The community has pulled together like nothing I’ve seen before and for this I would love to return the sentiment by working with them, hearing their opinions and getting stuck in to making this area the very best it can be!

I have a very positive profile in the community, having connected with hundreds of local residents over the last month and am confident that we will do very well in May with myself as Labour Candidate. Locals here are already assured that without fuss, I GET THINGS DONE!
